Elbolton is the largest of the Cracoe Reek knolls, and is known as 'the hill of the fairies'.
The emerald green grass in comparison to the brown moorland surrounding, resulting in rumours that the hill had magical properties. It was thought that fairies lived in the caves on the hill, and have led many unwary travellers astray on foggy nights with their 'corpsie lights'.
